The Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology & Neuroscience

The Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology & Neuroscience (IoPPN) is a world leader in the research, study and practice of psychiatry, psychology and related disciplines.

They have three world class divisions: Psychology & System Sciences, Psychiatry and Neuroscience which share a vision to understand how the mind and the brain work and to use this understanding to improve the quality of life and clinical outcome for individuals with mental health problems or neurological disorders.

Formerly known as the Institute of Psychiatry, the IoPPN was founded in 1948 and can date its origins to 1896. In 1997 it became a faculty of Kings College London, the fourth oldest university in England and one of the top 25 universities in the world.

The IoPPN are at the forefront of global mental health research and, together with their partnerships, foster research and training in policy, prevention, treatment and care around the world. They are part of the Academic Health Sciences centre, King’s Health Partners, a pioneering collaboration between King’s and three NHS foundation trusts: South London and Maudsley, Guy’s and St Thomas’ and King’s College Hospital.
